Piercing Aftercare: Simple Habits That Support Healing

A straightforward overview of cleaning, avoiding irritation, and knowing when to contact your piercer.

Healing is a process, not a single date on the calendar. Follow the aftercare instructions provided for your placement, wash your hands before touching the area, and avoid unnecessary twisting, pressure, or jewelry changes while the piercing is settling.

Everyday habits can make a difference. Keep phones, headphones, bedding, and anything else near the piercing clean. Be mindful of snagging from clothing or hair, and avoid sleeping directly on a healing ear piercing when possible.

Mild tenderness and localized changes may occur during healing, but concerns deserve professional guidance. Contact your piercer rather than guessing or removing jewelry on your own. They can evaluate fit, irritation, and the right next step for your situation.
